The Mountain Peak

Lie down and look above.
Isn't it surprising,
The sparkle that they have?
All scattered and twinkling.
To think, they have been there
When skies were bright and fair.

Do you think they see us?
On the cool mountain peak,
Lying on the cold grass,
Quiet, peaceful and meek.
The city lights below
In flashy golden glow.

In the east, the moon shines,
An old friend of all nights.
That's why she sees through lies.

Up here, you are so close,
You can actually speak.
For she listens and glows
To all your days this week
Like a good, loyal friend.
Lifetimes to comprehend.
