I Died Like This ...

There is silence everywhere,
You could hear a dead leaf fall.
The house is empty, the weather fair.
The trees are towering and tall.
Dreaming of climbing down each stair
When I no longer need to crawl.

So peaceful, I simply sleep,
Sleep and dream of trains and of friends,
All the happy friends I could keep.
As my mind is freed, it transcends.
The winds blow from the sky and sweep
My consciousness to an end.

To another world that's not there.
Soon to leave my wooden crib bare,
With a gentle and quiet care.

My heart and lungs struggle to live,
But there's no longer enough air.
Dying may be hard to believe,
But it is here. It used to be there.
As all guardians of life deceive
Coldness spreads from finger to ears.
